\r\n\tApril 2014<\/a> cover artist Andy Rementer<\/a> will be returning to Mondo Cane <\/a>in NYC with his third solo show of new and previously un-shown paintings and drawings on Thursday, May 1st. The "Meet Me Later" series transports us to seemingly familiar street corners, interiors and subway platforms populated by characters caught in frozen moments of furtive activity. The work has a timeless quality which seems to draw from influences as diverse as Léger, The Italian Renaissance and even the narrative economy of Raymond Carver. Ambigiuous narratives connect the work, while Rementer's use of bold colour, street signage, and textile pattern create further layers and stories of their own.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\t\/\/<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\tAndy Rementer is an award winning Graphic Artist from USA. He grew up in a Victorian beach town where an early exposure to the sun faded, local signage educated his love of type and hand-painted lettering. A sense of timelessness and nostalgia permeate his visual world. Another reoccurring theme of Rementer’s work is isolation, something he cites as an effect of his abrupt relocation to an urban environment in formative years and often depicted in his work through his characters’ underlying unease. He graduated from The University of the Arts in 2004. After working with Fabrica in northern Italy, he relocated to the East Coast where he divides his time between drawing, painting, and developing his first graphic \r\n\tApril 2014 cover artist Andy Rementer will be returning to Mondo Cane in NYC with his third solo show of new and previously un-shown paintings and drawings on Thursday, May 1st. The "Meet Me Later" series transports us to seemingly familiar street corners, interiors and subway platforms populated by characters caught in frozen moments of furtive activity. The work has a timeless quality which seems to draw from influences as diverse as Léger, The Italian Renaissance and even the narrative economy of Raymond Carver. We noticed on April 2014 cover artist Andy Rementer's Instagram that he did a t-shirt for DC Shoes and Pick Me Up 2014<\/strong><\/a> (seen above), one of the best if not THE BEST graphic arts festivals in the world. And what seems right about it is that we learned about Rementer's work at the festival a few years back. Pick Me Up is held annually at the Somerset House in London, and basically get the right people together to show the right kind of graphic and illustrative and design arts.

\r\n\tNow in its fifth year, the UK’s original contemporary graphic arts festival Pick Me Up showcases graphic art in all its forms. Aimed at being the antithesis of a traditional art fair, Pick Me Up is a fun and informal festival featuring quirky studio spaces in which to shop for affordable artwork from the great and good of graphic arts, and a daily, lively line-up of events which encourage both budding and bonafide artists of all ages to get involved.
