Allegra Lockstadt is a freelance illustrator and designer who was born in Ontario, Canada and raised in Lexington, Kentucky. Lockstadt attended Minneapolis College of Art and Design, where she began her signature illustration style of utilizing mixed-media to generate fields of colorful mark-making that compliment and give body to more figurative linework. The hatching of these colored lines encroach upon the simple pencil-marks, partially obscuring the more recognizable forms, evoking the forms through a bold, abstract mass. Allegra's series on the common hand gestures and postures found among the global fashion community acts as a uniqe commentary on the way physical indicators can come to identify an entire realm of society and culture. Lockstadt is a consistent contributor to Rookie Magazine.
