Dr Lakra at the Drawing Center, NYCTattoo // Monday, 28 Mar 2011
August 2010 cover artist and featured in the first Juxtapoz ever published in 1994, Mexican fine and tattoo artist Dr. Lakra is celebrating his first solo exhibition in NYC, showing at the Drawing Center. The exhibition features a complete 360 degree experience, with Lakra covering the walls in his signature handstyle and found objects.
The exhibition, done in collaboration with the Boston ICA (where Lakra had his first US museum retrospective last summer), makes the drawing front and center, using "drawing as the most immediate artistic impulse to invoke fundamental human urges like sex and violence."
The show is open through April 23, plenty of time to see Lakra's NYC solo debut.
