Zio Ziegler has a busy weekend. If you so happen to live in Northern California, you can make it a Zio weekend. As we first noted, Zio has an opening at Jules Maeght Gallery in San Francisco on March 6. Now on March 7, at the great Proof Lab shop in Mill Valley, California, Zio and Vans will have a shoe release party with live music by The Strange Land, a BBQ, and skating. And because we don't have winters in Northern California anymore, it will be a lovely day for a BBQ.

Zio Ziegler just painted a massive wall in Oakland on the corner of 17th and Webster streets in conjunction with his solo exhibition, Intuitivism, which opened at LeQuiVive Gallery this Saturday, November 15. The artist explains his visual language and intentions: "I've often been asked what my symbols mean in relation to one another, and while I hint at their meanings with a reference in a title, those meanings are as ephemeral as the process itself...

Zio Ziegler never ceases to impress--he is wildly prolific and powerfully invested in his work, and the results are tangible. This week Zio opened a solo show at Antonio Colombo Contemporary Gallery in Milan entitled "Et In Arte Ego." Check out a few images from the work exhibited, all of which bear the dynamic mark-making and wickedly expressive figures that Ziegler has come to define as his own.

While we were down in Austin during SXSW for Juxtapoz Projects, we were able to spend some time with our friends at Vans and check out what they had going on over at Vans Village, a pop-up store featuring exclusive merchandise and collaborations, competitive BMX Ramp and daily Open Mic sessions. We were most excited to learn that Vans brought out our mutual friends and artists Jay Howell, Rich Jacobs, Zio Ziegler, and Smithe to paint shipping containers and the actual store itself! Enjoy a photo recap...

Local up and coming Bay Area artist, Zio Zeigler, painted a monstrous monochromatic character on a rather difficult to paint textured facade a few months back. The young artist’s mural is packed filled with detail, drawing influence from primitive paintings and sculptures. If you want to see this piece in person it can be seen on Mission Street, between 7th and 8th in San Francisco.
