'Too Blessed To Be Stressed' entitles the newest body of work by StolenSpace represented artist - Word To Mother. His unmistakable figures sit amongst a landscape of earth tones, pastel shades and flashes of turquoise and fluorescent reds. Repetitive gold leaf triangles are placed amongst subtle, reflective washes, drips and textures to create a metaphoric contrast of the 'appreciation of the understated', versus glorified materialism.

Truth be told, I feel like Word To Mother never left San Francisco. Every morning, I see his tag, on my garbage bin, in the Lower Haight, from a show he had years before. Now, the London-based artist is back in SF with a new exhibition, Can't Afford To Be Broke, at White Walls. Preview and installation shots after the jump . . .

Our London correspondent, Butterfly, made it out to the opening night of Word To Mother's new solo show, Essence of Adolescence, at London's Stolenspace Gallery. The East London-based Mother introduced a new body of mixed-media paintings on wooden panels. It is the artist's fifth solo show at Stolenspace.

So we were happy to see "Madre," a nice short film made about Word's experience at the Italian Fame Festival in 2010.
