SFMoMA Announces 2010 SECA Award Winners

What is a nice art tradition here in San Francisco since 1967, the SFMoMA just announced that Mauricio Ancalmo, Colter Jacobsen, Ruth Laskey, and Kamau Amu Patton are the 2010 artists for its biennial SECA Art Award. For those who don't know, "Administered by SECA (Society for the Encouragement o f Contemporary Art), one of the museum's auxiliaries, the signature award honors Bay Area artists who are working independently at a high level of artistic maturity but who have not yet received substantial recognition." RETNA Gives Tour of Studio and LA Mural Video

Cover artist and participating Detroit artist RETNA has a new video on LA Forward that shows him giving a tour of his mural in downtown LA that he painted with Mac based on a photograph by Estevan Oriol. What was supposed to be informative turns a tad confrontational as a man near the mural starting shouting at the film crew and Retna. Watch after the jump . . .

Alexandros Vasmoulakis—Study For a Riot video

Ever since we profiled Greek artist Alexandros Vasmoulakis in the magazine, people have been telling us that they really like the work. We were caught by how grand his building-sized pieces were, part of that great generation of European street artists who are really capturing size and scale. Sesper creates video for Graffiti Gone Global's FRESH PRODUCE at Basel

Brazilian collage artist and musician Sesper just created a video of his works he will have in Graffiti Gone Global's Art Basel exhibition/event, Fresh Produce.
