Ask Jen Mann where she likes to spend the majority of her time and the answer comes easily: “my studio.” Other answers, however, are not so quickly accessed. Mann’s continued foray into painting comes from a deep-seated love for existential philosophy, and working becomes a way to examine these sometimes difficult and often endless ideas. Still, despite such esoteric thinking, this type of processing works flawlessly for her.

If you've ever watched shows like Black Dynamite, Superjail, and The Venture Bros. then you're familiar with Titmouse. They're one of the most edgy and innovative animation production studios today. While they're well known for creating shows on Adult Swim they also make music videos, commercials and recently hemmed an animated episode of NBC's Community.

Simply put, this is a portrait about marble. This is an excerpt video of "Italian artist and filmmaker Yuri Ancarani capturing the otherworldly landscape of a marble quarry in the Apuan Alps, Northwest Italy, as Il Capo (The Chief) guides his men through the extraction process." Its spellbinding, beautiful, and really, the otherworldly label is just about right.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been nearly 10 years since I started production on my documentary film, The Treasures of Long Gone John, which premiered at the SXSW Film Festival in 2006. Prior to making the film, I had heard legions of stories about Long Gone John, but he remained a mysterious figure, vitally connected to the Lowbrow art world but not particularly enamored of attending openings or social events

In the video by one of his favorite animators of all time, David Firth, Flying Lotus has his head chopped off in a creepy house in addition to quite a few other gruesome, spooky, graphic, and NSFW things...

Appropriate Audiences, a Paris-based design studio, has taken a 3D printer and combined it with a tattooist's needle to make an automated Tattoo "Printer." The studio took Autodesk software and turned tattoo designs into digital files that are downloaded into the machine. Then, a brave soul inserts the part of their body they wish to get tattooed and the needle starts working away at their skin. The needle is able to read and respond to changes in skin texture and the dimensions of the limb.

Juxtapoz Hyperreal, the newest addition to our book series, features a new generation of painters who have excelled at photorealism and hyperrealism, but have taken the mediums and injected them with new styles, techniques, ideas and individual personality. Brooklyn-based artist Zaria Forman, who is included in the book, draws large scale pastels that document Earth's shifting landscape and the effects of pregressive climate change.

For the past 14 years, Spazuk has developed and perfected a unique technique that allows him to use the flame of a candle or the flame of a torch as a pencil to create his paintings with trails of soot. Using various tools, he intuitively sculpt the plumes of soot left behind in response to the shapes that appear on the canvas.
