Brian Andrews Animates Animals with Human Skeletons

In this animation by artist Brian Andrews, animals with visible human skeletons are animated doing insect things. As our friend Skinner put it, the video is "CREEP LEVEL OMEGA." Titled Hominid, the video is an animated teaser based on the Hominid series of photo composites by the Andrews.

Juxtapoz' contributing photo editor Estevan Oriol just passed along this video he shot documenting the studio practice of fellow Los Angeles artist Patrick Martinez. "I met Patrick back in the days when we both were working with Rime Magazine Oriol says. "Mister Cartoon and I have since then have worked with him on many projects and also with our company S.A. Studios. He did the lay out 2 of my books 1979 for Adidas and L.A. Woman for Drago Publishing as well as designs for Joker Brand and the "Righteous Kill" movie poster campaign, to name a few.

The WallRide Project in Sao Paulo, Brazil looks to give the residents of the city access to public and free art through an exchange between Brazilian artists and others around the world. Every two months a different artist will be invited exposing his form of art on a wall in downtown Sao Paul! The first artist to utilize the wall is Alexandre "Sesper" Cruz. The YouTube Music Awards premiered this past weekend, streamed live, and was so... well, random, that we couldn't quite pinpoint if we enjoyed ourselves or found ourselves waiting for a disaster. It didn't come, and we really did enjoy the Arcade Fire portion, where they played Reflektor highlight, "Afterlife", done in conjunction with Spike Jonze directing Greta Gerwig to dance. And dance she did.

Michael Peck, who has been profiled in the magazine in the past, just sent us a stunning preview video in conjunction with his new body of work and exhibition, Love & Fear, premiering at Metro Gallery in Melbourne this November 16, 2013. The video was shot during Peck's 3 month artist in residency earlier this year at Birrarung House in Melbourne’s fringe bush land, and, in being there, Peck was "inspired by the isolation of the surrounding landscape... reimagin(ing) the human experience within a familiar yet somewhat inexplicable environment."
