Vancouver-based painter Drew Young has several new paintings from his In or Wake show at Thinkspace gallery. Drew's paintings are 'Spontaneous in some parts and carefully designed in others.' The result, he says, 'is sporadic abstraction paired with hyper-realism.'

Back in December 2012, Juxtapoz help sponsor the Los Angeles edition of WAYDTP?, which featured zines and prints spanning music, skateboarding and art culture from the 1980's til present.

On Friday, March 1st, the show moves to Vancouver, BC.

Cub of the Woods is a self-proclaimed 'metalhead, punk rocker and art hag' currently residing in Vancouver, B.C. Her detail-oriented black and white drawings are dark and seductive, full of shrieking skulls and babes straight out of your 1980s hair metal dreams.

We love these collaborative works between Morgan Spry-Young and Daniel Giantomaso because you have to really focus on each piece to find a narrative and figurative elements. From our research, it appears both work under a moniker of Star Gods Press from Vancouver, British Columbia. 

Vancover based artist Andre Petterson attempts to capture the essence of a split-second in time. His current photography-based work explores various themes of lighting to create elements of mystery. Rembrandt and the Dutch masters’ use of light have strongly influenced Petterson; important elements are highlighted and the mind must fill in the rest.

Fiona Ackerman is a Vancouver-based artist who has explored range of paintings genres, producing abstract as well as semi-photorealistic representational work. Here Ackerman embraces a middle ground, rendering her studio space carefully arranged with abstract sketches and studies alongside tubes of paint, brushes, and expansive white wall space...

Geoff McFetridge is an artist based in Los Angeles California. Born in Canada, he was schooled at the Alberta College of Art and the Graduate Design Program at the California Institute of the Arts. Known for his reductive graphic style, Geoff began to show his work in galleries in 1998 at George’s Gallery. His first large scale show was in Japan at Parco Gallery Tokyo.

From New York to Korea, Vancouver based artist Andrew Salgado has been able to take the fine art world on one brush stroke at a time. His work explores the correlation between the concept of masculinity and the properties of the medium; generally based in paint, at times his practice incorporates video, text, sculpture, performance, and paper-based work.

Drew Young's work currently focuses on lost and found adolescence. He believes we live in a world that is self-indulgent in primal behavior and lost in a wilderness of forgotten morality and values. The Vancouver, BC-based Young's images strongly reflect our own life experiences of these dark and visceral moments and places. If anything, he's giving us an external view of our own slef-gratifying exploits.
