Jenny G is a Vancouver based artist. She makes these very colorful, playful paintings that nod to some darker issues. In a recent installation, she scrawled across one of the walls, "Our budget will work if we sleep through the entire weekend without eating anything." Maybe we should try that.

We have been on a candy/sweets search just in time for Halloween, and we came across these simple, but elegant, paintings by Anselmo Swan. That cupcake is done so well, you just want to eat it. The body of work makes you look into the simple beauty of the everyday object, or just makes you hungry.

Well, this took us a few minutes to really take in Hayden Wood's photography series, but yes, these are real models under the guise of Living Dolls. The Vancouver-based Wood shoots and retouches each photo in the series. Creepy work to say the least.

Upon a bit further research, we found out he is from Calgary, he now lives in Vancouver, he is learning to tattoo, he cares about tattoos, trains, graffiti, metal, and women...

Maybe we are insensitive to real burning buildings, but this installation from Montreal-based artist Isabelle Hayeur is very interesting and one of the better pieces of art we have seen this weekend. This could lead to a boy cries wolf scenario, but you should watch the video after the jump to see how it works...
