We are trying to rush through Thomas Pynchon's "Inherent Vice" book right now so we can go check out director Paul Thomas Anderson's take on the film that releases nationwide January 9, 2015. We were lucky enough, along with Slow Culture and the Ace Hotel, to be part of a special art show, "Contemporary Psychedelic," that featured art inspired by the film that opened at the Downtown LA Ace Hotel this week. Juxtapoz Magazine, Encinitas, California-based shop UNIV and San Francisco-based Chandran Gallery have teamed for a special auction and exhibition benefit for Waves For Water, an organization on the ground in the Philippines, mobilizing an urgent clean water disaster relief initiative in the aftermath of Super Typhoon Haiyan. From March 18—31st, a special curated selection of hand-painted surfboards will be available at auction on Paddle8. Artists who participated include Geoff McFetridge, CR Stecyk III, Tim Biskup, Lucy McLauchlan, Andrew Schoultz and more.
