Let's face it. Chances are you didin't make it to Tokyo for the opening of KAWS' new exhibition, Ohhh..., at Murakami's Kaikai Kiki space. It opened tonight, but in Tokyo time, that means its already open. So, if you didn't make it, we have a little into some of the works that are on exhibit, and as you can see, they are some of the cleanest, bold acrylic works you will ever see. 

NYC's KAWS, an artist with one of the cleanest line styles in the world, will be opening a new exhibition, Ohhh... at Tokyo's KaiKai Kiki Gallery from May 2—29, 2013. Just like we have seen in the past few bits of KAWS news, whether at a Thanksgiving Parade or a gigantic companion piece outside his exhibition at Galerie Perrotin in Paris, this will have a highlight.

December 2009 cover artist, José Parlá, is set to open a new exhibition at Yuka Tsuruno in Tokyo entitled PROSE. According to the gallery, " For Parla, walls are sites where the energy, history, and culture of urban society are located, and where human memory and psychology are inscribed." The show opens on March 21 and closes on May 18, 2013. 

Photographer Jesse Frohman will be exhibiting his portraits of Kurt Cobain at Opening Ceremony Tokyo in March. The portraits were shot during Nirvana's '93 In Utero tour. A period of deep depression for Kurt, the portraits were some of the last taken before his death.

We are enjoying Tokyo-based artist Marefumi Komura's paintings this morning. As Japan works to confront and accept the devastation that the March 2011 earthquake dealt to the country, Marefumi has felt a need to refocus his paintings towards ever-present and universal themes of 'fragility' and 'beauty' that hide within our existence.

For those lucky people in Tokyo, check out Geoff McFetridge's show My Head Disappears When My Hands Are Thinking with Heath Ceramics at Playmountain this week. It runs through this Sunday (17th). Heath is a Sausalito, CA based artisan pottery manufacturer and McFetridge is a Los Angeles-based illustrator and graphic designer whose work has been featured on products from Nike, Stüsy, Patagonia and in Spike Jonze's Where the Wild Things Are.

Tsuyoshi Ozawa is known as an artist with insight into history and society, yet his method of expression is humorous and full of wit. The exhibition also includes Vegetable Weapon, a series of photographs of women holding guns made from vegetables. The projects have been carried out in different cities world wide, addressing the stupidity of war and violence.

Tokyo based tattoo artist Nami of Three Tides Tattoo has an ink portfolio booming with designs full of skulls and snakes. Using mostly black ink with minimal color, Nami creates some incredible work you don't wanna miss checking out.

Kimiaki Yaegashi is a Tokyo-based illustrator and graphic designer who has been working professionally since 1998. Her minimalist style is colorful, quirky, sexy and strange, with a cast of bizarre yet delightful recurring characters...
