TIME Magazine just unveiled the cover of their newest issue, and we know how hard it is for a weekly news magazine to garner attention for their covers, but Ai Weiwei will definitely get you on the arts and culture blogs. The cover features the attention-grabbing statement: "The World According to China". Editor Rick Stengel was quoted on TV as saying, "I actually think it's the most beautiful cover we've ever done in our history." Well done, well timed, and yes, it is really beautiful.

This isn't the first time that Shepard Fairey (Jux cover artist, November 2007), but perhaps this year has the strongest sentiment. For their annual Person of the Year issue, TIME Magazine chose "The Protestor," and had Shepard create the cover art for the special honor. Looks good in our book.

Its 2011, the era of the digital photography and most news journalism magazines using photography on their covers, so we appreciate a good cover illustration. Tim O'Brien just illustrated the cover of TIME with a piece depicting Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi. Classic.
