On August 27th, 205 Kong Art Space will present "Space Madness", an exhibition of new paintings by former Juxtapoz cover artist Tim Biskup. With his newest series of paintings Biskup has come back to his roots. The work is bold, colorful, cartoony and emotive. He’s always felt a sort of spiritual connection to the work of Roberto Matta which is clearly a touchpoint in this collection. The stylistic similarities are there, but also a deep belief in the relevance of Jungian symbolism and incorporation of the surrealist philosophy of automatic composition.

And finally, the art. We are so proud of all the artwork that is on exhibit in "Art Truancy: Celebrating 20 Years of Juxtapoz Magazine," open at Jonathan LeVine Gallery in NYC through June 14, 2014. It blows our mind that we are now two decades old, but what is even more amazing are all the artists that have been in our pages over those years. Their works tell the story, create the chance to document alternative art narratives, bring out the fans, bring out the collectors, and keep the creative energy of Juxtapoz alive. Here, then, is all the art in "Art Truancy."

The exhibition features a wide-range of cover artists and featured artists from over the past 20 years, and today we have a look at some of the covers from artists in the show. From Robert Williams to Grotesk, Mark Ryden to Swoon, here is a bit of a history lesson to catch up on, or reminisce over.

We recently stopped by Martha Otero Gallery for the opening reception of “Charge,” Tim Biskup’s latest solo exhibition. Taken back by this new body of work, Biskup never ceases to amaze us with his constant natural progression throughout the years. Biskup seems to take a fearless approach with his artistic evolution, and somehow does it flawlessly.

With Tim Biskup’s latest solo show coming up this Saturday, September 28th at Martha Otero Gallery in Los Angeles, we were invited to stop by the artist's studio for a sneak peek at what he has been working on for the past few months! Watching an already talented and skilled artist like Tim grow and develop throughout the years he never seizes to amaze me, the same goes for this new body of work. Photos and more after the jump.

Martha Otero Gallery is pleased to present Charge, an exhibition by Juxtapoz favorite, Tim Biskup, featuring a new body of work. The title, Charge, holds complex personal references for Biskup. To be 'charged' or to be 'in charge' is to feel psychologically or emotively 'charged' as in renewed, revived and empowered. In particle physics, the theory of 'color charge' refers to an abstract concept of positive and negative values.
