Born in Nagoya Japan, Inukai completed her art education in California, and is currently based in Los Angeles. This past weekend, our friends at Thinkspace Gallery were one the many galleries setting up shop at Beyond Eden,a multi-gallery event celebrating the New Contemporary Art Movement in Los Angeles put together by Andrew Hosner (co-owner / curator at Thinkspace). Not only that, but one of Juxtapoz' founders, Greg Escalante, was honored as an art community figure who helps push the genre forward. Nice one, Greg!

Prior to the opening of this show, Matt Doust passed away from an epileptic seizure, and with his family's blessing, Thinkspace honored Matt by presenting a final body of work this month. The result is a stunning body of hyperreal paintings. An accomplished portraitist, Doust’s hyperrealistic paintings explore the concept of identity through the external betrayals of the body.
