I have been on a Major Lazer music marathon lately and of course that means I have been listening to plenty of Diplo. While watching videos this morning to get pumped for the day, I ran across the “Express Yourself” video by Diplo, which basically consists of more ass shaking than anything. If you watch closely, the video has a quick frame where a Read More Books sticker is the main focus and Swoon's wheatpastes act as a backdrop for a majority of the song.
Street Art // Tuesday, June 19, 2012
New Swoon pieces have been popping up around Brooklyn and they are a stand out among all the amateur attempts at “street art” you become desensitized to seeing. As usual, this piece is highly intricate in its cuts and line work.

The May 2012 issue of Juxtapoz is our special examination on the state of Public Art in 2012. We have spent over a year discussing the topic of community sevice and Public Art programs with festival organizers, politicians in the US and abroad, and artists about their experiences developing Public Art initiatives and bodies of work, and how their experiences can be blueprints for other artists and cities to follow to better communities around the world. This issue is what we learned. Preview after the jump . . .

Last Friday, Juxtapoz went and checked out the new Swoon piece that had been placed at 24th and Hampshire in San Francisco's Mission District. An older, ornate, beautiful Swoon wheatpaste from years ago was unexpectedly removed months back, and after much conversation and speaking with the building owner and Swoon, a new piece has been added to the neighborhood at the same location. Watch the video after the jump . . .

Former cover artist, and one of the most sought after installation artist we cover, Swoon, just opened a new solo show, Murmuration, at London's Black Rat Projects. This is Swoon’s first London solo exhibition and she has spent three long weeks transforming the gallery space into a mesmerising world populated by towering sculptural figures, elaborate colours and delicate paper cuts.
