Swiss artist Felice Varini is back with another one of his illusionary large scale geometric murals, this time at the Grand Palais in Paris. Watch a video after the jump to see how he uses projectors and stencils to create the artwork which only appears from a specific viewpoint.

Internationally acclaimed Swiss-born artist Urs Fischer just opened his first comprehensive museum retrospective in the U.S. at MOCA in Los Angeles. The exhibition includes his work, Horses Dream of Horses, which includes 1,500 plaster and resin raindrops hung on nylon string.

This morning we take a look at the work of the Swiss-American Surrealist painter Kurt Seligmann. A native of Basel, Switzerland, Seligmann was known for his imagery of medieval troubadours and knights. While living in New York, the artist assembled a library of over a hundred volumes. Using what we can only assume are incredible amounts of strength and concentration, artist Maedir Euster from Rigolo Swiss Noveau Crique performs his Palm Rib Balance for a short film by photographer/director Tobias Hutzler. Maedir starts with a feather and slowly adds palm leaf ribs until he has balanced 13 of them on one large rib.

DE ES was born in 1942 in Gresten, Lower Austria, as Dieter Schwertberger. He studied the painting technique of the Old Masters in Vienna and is an independent artist since 1962. DE ES lived three years in Switzerland and twelve years in New York City. The painter is using the artist name DE ES since 1972. He lives again in Vienna since 1986.

A fantastic statement on global pollution, Israeli artist Gal Weinstein has created these amazing sculptures of tires going up in flames. The works sit at 4 meters high and made of wax, wool, polyester, Styrofoam and graphite. The work was on display at Art Basel, Kunsthaus Baselland in Switzerland (22 September – 13 November 2011).

Currently at the Gewerbemuseum in Winthertur, Switzerland is the exhibition, Oh, Plastiksack, an exhibition dedicated to the plastic bag as an everyday item and as a focus for art and design. This much-discussed plastic product is explored in the context of society and the environment and as a theme of contemporary artistic work in the fields of painting, photography, installation, performance, urban art and design. Kim-Anh Nguyen-Dinh is a 22 year old tattoo artist living and working out of Geneva. In addition to tattooing, her hobbies include reading, traveling, and collecting useless things. She first got into the idea of being a tattoo artist when she would draw sketches for other tattoo artists to ink onto her.  

Designed by Swiss practice Peter Kunz Architekturm the “Garagenatelier” consists of five concrete cubes embedded into the hillside landscape, only partially being revealed. With glass pains offering distant views from the parked cars, this could be a great place to take a date you intend to make out with!
