Longtime Juxtapoz friends Jay Howell and Jim Dirschberger sit down to talk about their all new animated series for Vans Offthewall.tv This new show, “Classic Tales”, teams Jim and Jay up with the Vans skate crew. Through the comedic medium of story telling and creativity, the guys help shed light and possibly put to rest some legendary tales of drunken nights and psychedelic adventures around the world.

If you happen to be in NYC tonight, Saturday, June 16, we highly suggest you drop everything and head to Saturdays Surf to see photography legend Art Brewer present a slideshow and hold a Q&A session. The surf photographer is the epitome of surf and art, and we are sure his slideshow is stunning, and his conversation illuminating. Must-see.

This weekend (its started already) is the inaugural San Diego Surf Film Festival, and with a great line-up of shorts, full-lenghts, documentaries, and experimental work, we wish we could check out Through the Whiskey Barrel: A Film About Surfing In Scotland (it shows on Saturday, May 12, we have time). Thomas Campbell, on assignment with the New York Times Style Magazine, went to the set of the fillm "Of Men and Mavericks," Curtis Hanson's newest film due in Fall 2012. The biopic tells the story of Jay Moriarty, the surfer who put the infamous and monster Northern California surf spot, Mavericks, on the map. Campbell took some beautiful pictures on the set.

Vans just released their newest collaboration with skate artist and skateboard legend, Neil Blender, and this Thursday, April 7 at the Vans by Thalia Surf Shop in Laguna Beach, California, the collaboration will see a proper launch party featuring the collection and some Blender's original artwork on display. A few years ago, Juxtapoz filmmaker, Alexander Klein, directed and finished the documentary "God Went Surfing with the Devil," a look at the Israel-Palestine conflict through the lens of surfing. This Thursday (February 17) "GWSWD" will be screened at Nike's Bowery Stadium at 276 Bowery in Manhattan, with special discussion with Klein and host Jason Goodman afterward. Keegan Gibbs, who is showing Open Spaces at Known Gallery in Los Angeles starting tonight, January 15, just sent us some teasing images and previews of what is in the works if you stop by.
