Our friend and recent collaborator, Kenji Hirata, just opened a new body of work at Enamel Art Space in St Louis, and the gallery has a great studio visit video that we wanted to share today. The show features of new works of paper and canvas, expanding on the Brooklyn artist's already futuristic and abstract style. The show is open through March 9, 2014, so you in the Midwest, brace the cold and go check it.

A few weeks prior to Patrick O'Connell's in-depth interview with "Imagination Issue" artist Matt Ritchie, photographer Chloe Rice and I went to pay him a visit in his home studio and wood shop in Castro Valley, CA, and submerged ourselves in the hand-carved, scratched and painted world that he has created for over two decades. That world is aesthetically tiny...

With Tim Biskup’s latest solo show coming up this Saturday, September 28th at Martha Otero Gallery in Los Angeles, we were invited to stop by the artist's studio for a sneak peek at what he has been working on for the past few months! Watching an already talented and skilled artist like Tim grow and develop throughout the years he never seizes to amaze me, the same goes for this new body of work. Photos and more after the jump.

In our October issue, out now on newsstands, we documented our recent trip to the Filson Factory in Seattle, where the great team took us around the factory floor and showed us how their heritage and artisan bags are constructed. We also got some sneak peeks into their new Seattle Life collection, some classic apparel and Filson advertising, and of course, some of the most beautifully made luggage and day bags being created today. Or 100 years ago.

There are few people that I would get up at 4am for, let alone travel from London to Zurich and back in a day for. But for my old friends at Juxtapoz, and for one of the world’s most iconic design companies – Victorinox, I definitely made that exception. Everyone I know wanted to accompany me on the trip and I enjoyed watching my friend’s faces flush with excitement and jealousy, listening to them recount childhood memories of their fathers and grandfathers owning a Victorinox Swiss Army knife.

Juxtapoz friend Butterfly made it to Berlin for a studio visit with French graffiti artist Blo while he prepared for his new solo show, La Petit Mort, at Openwalls opening this past weekend. As the gallery noted,"LA PETITE MORT examines euphoric isolation of the artist, steeped in BLO’s past movements throughout the public sphere..."

One of our European contributors, Butterfly, recently heading out to the studio of graffiti artist Gris1 in Lyon, France to see what the artist have prepared for the rest of his 2013 calendar year. From the looks of it, he has lots of trains, spraycans, post-its, paintings, sketches, and notes coming into fruition. We have covered Gris1 a ton on our site and in our Graffiti Department in recent years, as well as a bunch of French writers, and we were very appreciative that Gris let us into his space.

This past winter, Michael Johansson, famous for his "real-life Tetris" public and museum installations, opened "Familar Abstractions" at Vigeland Museet in Olso, Norway. During the preparation for that show, our friend and contributor Henrik Haven caught up with Johansson at his studio in Malmø, Sweden. Even in his space, everything has a place, in its right place.
