There are few people that I would get up at 4am for, let alone travel from London to Zurich and back in a day for. But for my old friends at Juxtapoz, and for one of the world’s most iconic design companies – Victorinox, I definitely made that exception. Everyone I know wanted to accompany me on the trip and I enjoyed watching my friend’s faces flush with excitement and jealousy, listening to them recount childhood memories of their fathers and grandfathers owning a Victorinox Swiss Army knife.

Juxtapoz friend Butterfly made it to Berlin for a studio visit with French graffiti artist Blo while he prepared for his new solo show, La Petit Mort, at Openwalls opening this past weekend. As the gallery noted,"LA PETITE MORT examines euphoric isolation of the artist, steeped in BLO’s past movements throughout the public sphere..."

One of our European contributors, Butterfly, recently heading out to the studio of graffiti artist Gris1 in Lyon, France to see what the artist have prepared for the rest of his 2013 calendar year. From the looks of it, he has lots of trains, spraycans, post-its, paintings, sketches, and notes coming into fruition. We have covered Gris1 a ton on our site and in our Graffiti Department in recent years, as well as a bunch of French writers, and we were very appreciative that Gris let us into his space.

This past winter, Michael Johansson, famous for his "real-life Tetris" public and museum installations, opened "Familar Abstractions" at Vigeland Museet in Olso, Norway. During the preparation for that show, our friend and contributor Henrik Haven caught up with Johansson at his studio in Malmø, Sweden. Even in his space, everything has a place, in its right place.

From yoga instructor to artist, San Francisco-based Charmaine Olivia has continued to create amazing works of art that are playful, fun, and full of poetic passion. After seeing her work on instagram, I was immediately drawn to it. Charmaine’s paintings of beautiful women fused with otherworldly aspects ensure that each one is truly unique and memorable.

If you look up the word "amory" on Urban Dictionary, the number one definition states that "amory" is often used to describe Heaven, especially when used to describe the wonderful beacon of light. The first time I visited Sam Kieth's studio, about 10 years ago, he shared cubicle space directly above The Spaghetti Factory. And he had a janitor. The last time I ventured up to Sam Kieth's studio, 6 years later, he was literally working (comfortably, might I add) in a duct-tape-wrapped mummy of a chair in an underground hideout in the forests of Placerville, CA. By underground I mean UNDERGROUND. There was dirt on top of the ceiling...
