Todd "REAS" James, recently part of our Graffiti Spotlight and his August 2008 cover in our Top 25 Covers list, will be opening a solo show, King of the Wild Frontier, at NYC's Gering & Lopez Gallery on March 1, 2012. The exhibition will present two new bodies of work: canvases depicting James' familiar Somali pirate series and a recreation of the Vandal's Bedroom that was so essential to the Street Market installation at MOCAs' Art In the Streets.

Opening over the weekend, Livingston Street Market displayed 5400 sq. feet of painting and signs from the Moca ‘s Art in the Streets show, painted by Todd James and Steven Powers.  With The First Street Market exhibiting in Japan in 2000 with Barry Mcgee, the installation has continued to evolve and has been shown in several locations internationally.  

On Saturday November 19th at 3pm, Todd "Reas" James and Steve "Espo" Powers are having a show celebrating the end of phase 1 of Love Letter To Brooklyn, and showing off a large amount of artwork from the Street Market neighborhood of the MOCA's Art In the Streets exhibition.

One of our founders and photography editors, CR Stecyk III, played director of photography on this video, "Street, 2011," a video for MOCA documenting the Barry McGee, Todd James, Steve Powers installation in "Art In the Streets." Felipe Lima, a great filmmaker, directed the piece.

As we mentioned late last week, the major highlight, at least for us, at Art In the Streets was the Steve "Espo" Powers, Todd "Reas" James, and Barry McGee recreation and update of their seminal 2000 Street Market show at Deitch Projects. Take it in after the jump . . .
