New work from Phlegm around London

After a week in London, Sheffield-based illustrator and muralist, Phlegm, has completed multiple pieces around town, with two walls having included his newer hybrid animal character. One of the walls, the four-panel outdoor canvas of the Village Underground, (Also hosting the Work of Steve Powers above) was painted with a simplistic character piece appearing to come out of the panels.

Shipping Container Sauna

Equipped with solar panels, a wood fire stove, and even a standard Ipod stereo, this shipping container turned sauna can be yours for $41,000. Created by Canadian design studio, Castor Canadensis, the “sauna box” is watertight and can be moved to multiple locations. We would like to have one of these craned up onto our roof please!

Working with the Acrylic Walls Project based in Cape Town, Argentinian muralist, Jaz, created a number of new paintings around the city, this one being our favorite. The artist painted a person being mauled by a large cougar in a dead forest.

Working with a new hybrid animal character debuting a few weeks back, Sheffield-based muralist and illustrator, Phlegm, has brought it out again, this time panting three. With a bird beak, rat-like tail and lengthy stick legs and arms, these creepy figures will have no trouble in courting attention from people passing by in London.

Escif's new plant murals...

Escif has been painting a series of plants as the subjects for his newest murals.  The use of color is something we rarely see from him and they are esthetically very different from his usual work. These two murals are the first of a series of six.

"EPIPHYSM" refers to the third eye, aka the pineal gland, and is the title to Remed’s first solo exhibition in Africa at David Bloch Gallery in Casablanca. The Spanish artist filled the gallery with a diverse amount of work; most notable are the intricate metal sculptures and brithly colored vases, accompanied with a number of small and large paintings. The show runs through this weekend, January 12, 2013.

"Let Me Handle" by Jordan Seiler

Jordan Seiler has an interesting take on advertisement takeover with his “Let me handle this” project. The artist revisited and took over the advertisement space of an old phone booth three times in New York, each time placing a photo of the last takeover. The result of nested images in each other created something of babushka doll effect.
