Update: Jay Shell's "The Rap Quotes"

Multidisciplinary artist, Jay Shells, has recently been creating legitimate looking signs containing rap quotes that reference specific locations in New York. After compiling over 30 signs, Shells set out installing these signs in the locations mentioned in the quotes. The artist has quoted many well-known rappers such as Jay Z, Mos Def, Kanye West, Gza, Nas, Jeru the Damaja, DJ Premier, and many more.

Of course, at first, you think there is some photo trickery involved, but at a closer look, you can tell that Joe Iurato is just really good at creating characters that fit seemlessly in their surroundings. As Joe notes, "I use layers of hand cut paper and spray paint to create texture and form - a modern adaptation of an old-fashioned printing process. Brooklyn-based artist, Maya Hayuk, has been enlisted as the next artist to paint the famed wall at Houston and Bowery in New York, and she has been making swift moves dousing it in color. The wall was previous decorated by the work of Swoon before the blizzard gave graffiti writers a nice opportunity to bomb it.
