“Reach absolute balance with the power of the mind” is the title of Spanish artist, Hyuro’s newest piece for the Bienal de Arte de Perpignan in Perpignan, France. The surreal and striking image of a women balancing on several brooms can be seen on the side of a building in this piece.

Over the last year organized by artists, Jetsonorama and Yote, The Painted Desert Project has invited several artists to visit the Navajo country region of Northern Nevada to meet local residents and create murals. Learning of local customs, history, and tradition, the work created here references much of the culture specific to this area. The most recent participants to this project come from Nanook and Nils Westergard, who each painted two different pieces which you can see see in the following video Other artists who have participated in this project have been Overunder, Doodles, LA Pandilla, Brian Barneclo, 2501, Labrona and more.

Fundacja Urban Forms Festival in Lodz, Poland continues with the 30th mural being painted by 3TTMAN. The artist went all-out on this new piece, painting a massive sized wall with abstract shapes, figures, and an explosion of vibrant colors.

An Update of thoughts with Escif

We were just wondering where Escif has been and why we had not seen any new work from him popping up. His website was updated yesterday with some thoughts that we found interesting and felt inclined to share them here with you. "After a few months meditation, we start again with some changes in blog, structure and mind. Time goes fast and everything´s changing all around. Street is a nice place to play, but we are not totally agree on how the game´s coming, so lets try to push it with different rules."

One thing is for certain; the mentioning of Bansky’s name provokes strong opinions. Ever since the British artist has set up his New York residency “Better Out Than In,” we have seen both the haters and the praisers come out in hoards. Undeniably, the infamous artist is really, really good at getting major media attention and creating hype. So, when we saw his day #23 update that read “Today’s art has been cancelled due to police activity” it appeared to us as another piece in creating additional controversy, which in the end leads to more discussion, attention, and hype. Plus even Banksy need a day off, right?

Swoon next up on Bowery Wall

Brooklyn-based artist, Swoon, has been enlisted as the next artist to paint the famed wall at Houston and Bowery in New York. Previous decorated by the work of Revok and Pose, the wall has since been whitewashed to a vivid blue-green canvas. Swoon has begun applying her wheatpastes in what will be a Hurricane Sandy-themed piece. She will join a long list of artists who have painted the wall which include notable names like Keith Haring, Os Gemeos, Barry Mcgee, Adek (SACE), Kenny Sharf, Shepard Fairey and more. We will keep you posted on the process throughout the week.
