The Gainesville Community Redevelopment Agency along with the University of Florida hosted a dozen realistic bronze figure sculptures by internationally renowned sculptor Seward Johnson.  The businessman discarding trash and the cop writing a ticket sort of creep us out, but that’s a good thing.

Ancient Rage

  It’s not often you stumble on a miniature desert landscape with a camel on a boxcar.  Almost looks airbrushed, but I doubt the artist brought a compressor into the train yard or maybe they did?

Monkey Made Of Flip-Flops

Constructed of 10,000 pairs of flip-flops, 45 feet long, and titled “The Fat Monkey.”  Dutch artist, Florentijn Hofman with the help of local art students was commissioned to build this giant monkey in a park in Sao Paolo, Brazil.

Escif in Niort, France

Spanish street artist, Escif was invited to Niort, France to participate in the first edition of the festival “Le 4eme Mur.”  He created the following two murals on what appears to be some rather aged walls.  We enjoy seeing artists incorporate or leave significant portions of existing walls unpainted, adding more depth to the work.

Crayon Wildfire Sculptures

Herb Williams is an artist whose interest lies in identifying objects that society perceives to associate with one role and reintroduces them into different subtexts.  With the project “ Unwanted Visitor: Portrait of a Wildfire”, Williams created five freestanding sculptures using thousands of individual crayons.

Bosco Verticale

Designed by Stefano Boeri, Bosco Verticale is a towering 27- story structure, currently under construction in Milan, Italy. Once complete, the tower will be home to the world's first vertical forest.
