That could mean ESPO to you and some. Stephen Powers was commissioned by Ogilvy & Mather New York and Joshua Liner Gallery to create murals that reinterpret the words and quotes of agency founder David Ogilvy. This video sort of sums up what Powers is all about, his reasons, body of work, and his love of sign-painting.

One of our founders and photography editors, CR Stecyk III, played director of photography on this video, "Street, 2011," a video for MOCA documenting the Barry McGee, Todd James, Steve Powers installation in "Art In the Streets." Felipe Lima, a great filmmaker, directed the piece.

Street Art // Monday, April 18, 2011
As we mentioned late last week, the major highlight, at least for us, at Art In the Streets was the Steve "Espo" Powers, Todd "Reas" James, and Barry McGee recreation and update of their seminal 2000 Street Market show at Deitch Projects. Take it in after the jump . . .

We say "if only" because if Todd "REAS" James and Steve "ESPO" Powers were going to take their slot at MOCA's "Art In the Streets" and do a musical version of the seminal cult graffiti film, "Style Wars," like they were Marina Abramovic performing for museum goers everyday, all day, that would be something to see. More after the jump . . .

Steve "ESPO" Powers has a talent in delivery. Whether it is art, a book, or a film, the man can bring a message. That is why we were happy to watch his recent TED Talk in Philly for TEDxPhilly. ESPO speaks about the A Love Letter For You mural project, as well as how the concept is spreading to Brazil. Video after the jump . . .
