In L.A.: "Beyond Eden" @ LA Municipal Art Gallery

This past weekend, our friends at Thinkspace Gallery were one the many galleries setting up shop at Beyond Eden,a multi-gallery event celebrating the New Contemporary Art Movement in Los Angeles put together by Andrew Hosner (co-owner / curator at Thinkspace). Not only that, but one of Juxtapoz' founders, Greg Escalante, was honored as an art community figure who helps push the genre forward. Nice one, Greg!

Spoke Art gallery in San Francisco is pleased to present “The Pinks” a new exhibition of original paintings by Florida, USA-based artist Scott Scheidly. “The Pinks” explores the cultural and social implications of color and how the predefined notions that accompany these perceptions can alter one’s identity and subsequent world view. By incorporating either hyper-masculinized or historically infamous figures, Scheidly further drives the point home, making a mockery of his subjects though biting socio/sexual satire.

For the third straight year, Spoke Art Gallery has turned their space into an homage to the fantastic filmmaker Wes Anderson. The show, which ran for two days this past weekend as a Halloween costume party, featured seventy-five painting, prints, and sculptures by an amazing group of talented artists who have come to admire the wacky and wonderful world that Anderson has created over the years.
