Golucho's Realist Nudes

Erotica // Tuesday, November 13, 2012
Recognized as one of Spain's premier contemporary realist painters, Michel Angel May is better known by the moniker Golucho. Golucho's nude portraits are unflinching and uncompromising. Having started painting at 12 years old, in 1964 he studied in Paris at the Place des Vosges for 6 years and is reported to have studied master works at the Prado and at Buen Retiro Palace.

The Wes Anderson Alphabet

Juxtapoz // Tuesday, November 06, 2012
Why not? We have been in a Wes Anderson mood with the "Bad Dads" show at Spoke Art, so might as well move onto the Wes Anderson Alphabet as produced by Madrid, Spain-based Hexagonall. We don't get all 26, but 18 posters representing the film canon that is Wes Anderson will suffice on this election day.

I Remember Halloween

Graffiti // Friday, November 02, 2012
Halloween should be once a month for more reasons than I can explain here.  The Misfits loved Halloween and so does Spain who painted this tribute.  Smashed pumpkin makes for a nice touch.

RIPO "Surreal But So Real" for Tudela de Navarra, Spain

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, October 24, 2012
We got a few images of this fantastic mural that RIPO finished in Tudela de Navarra, Spain for the Avant-Garde Urbano Festival. The name is perhaps even better: Surreal But So Real. That is our feeling about much of the great building-sized murals being completed in Europe these days. Thanks to Henrik Haven for the head's up.

Juxtapoz // Saturday, September 29, 2012
Check out these striking and bold photographs from Biel Grimalt of Spain. Biel's images are incredibly sharp and capture an array of staged scenes of eroticism.

The Work of Madrid's NastPlas

Juxtapoz // Tuesday, September 04, 2012
NastPlas is the collective of two Madrid, Spain based illustrators and digital artists; Dr Franken and Natalia Molinos. At first, we thought the work was burned wax on top of illustration, but we love the way the duo have digitally recreated that sort of uneven surface in their portraits.
