All month long, in conjunction with our Beastie Boys special issue, we have been asking some of our friends about their favorite BB's memories. The other day we talked to Jeremy Fish, and today, we spoke with Amsterdam-based Parra about his experience growing up with the Beasties. As we expected, there is skateboarding involved... 

This past weekend we stopped by HVW8 Art for the private reception for “15 Years Of Gonz and Adidas,” a photo exhibition celebrating Mark Gonzales’ 15 years with the adidas Skateboarding family. As you may know, the man they lovingly call the "Gonz" has been a good friend of the Juxtapoz, Thrasher, and High Speed family for years, and we are so happy to see this show come to fruition. Friend of Juxtapoz magazine, and former cover artist from September 2011, Neck Face, has just created a capsule collection with Nike SB that features a snapback hat, Blazer series, t-shirts, and backpack. With Neck Face having obvious ties in the skate world, its nice to see a simple logo treatment and some of the cleanest Blazers you will ever get. Look for the collection now... 

Last Thursday Patrick O’Dell’s photo exhibit “Skateboard High School” opened at Known Gallery in Los Angeles. On hand to check out the show were skateboarders, actors, models and scenesters. People were playing it cool, until they heard that every print, framed or unframed, was available to purchase for only fifty bucks, at which point the cool became crazed.

As you may have already known, Haroshi has made an impression on the art world in recent years for his recycled skateboard sculptures. The Japanese artist is set to open a new solo show, Virtual Reality, at Jonathan LeVine Gallery in NYC on Saturday, January 12. The repetition of skating, the craft of perfecting the right trick, comes out in the methodical arrangement of the plywood decks into recognizable characters and shapes.

We are very excited to announce that our sister publication, SLAP Magazine, will be celebrating its 20th anniversary as we close out 2012. To commemorate the landmark, the web-only SLAP will be publishing one more issue for its readers, super limited ad-free issue we must note. The issue covers SLAP’s history with conversations and contributions from old mainstays like Scott Bourne and Jeremy Fish...

A beautifully shot skate video, with the title taken from a line in an essay about Peter Pan, Joe Pease has created an alternate reality by focusing on the shadow as opposed to the person skating. After awhile, it becomes like a symphony of shapes and movement. The Nick Cave helps.

Looking forward to this one. The Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) is set to host Skate It or Hang It?! The Evolution of Skateboard Art, an exhibition examining the visual aspects skateboarding, centering heavily on skateboard graphics. The show opens on June 16, 2012. We even seen a graphic of our June 2012 cover artist, Don Pendleton...

Longtime skater, designer and ATL native Greg Mike has lent his hand to a new REAL capsule drop releasing this week worldwide in skateboard shops. The REAL x GM capsule contains a one of a kind 3' tall hand painted sculpture being auctioned off with 100% of the proceeds going to the JohnnyKicksCancer Foundation.

Artist Greg Mike, who we have profiled in the March 2012 issue, just completed a collaborative skateboard deck series with REAL, and a collaboration release event will be happening at ABV Gallery in Atlanta this Monday, February 27th.
