Dennis McNett "Anti-Art" @ Eleanor Harwood Gallery, SF

A couple bits of Dennis McNett news to announce. One, Dennis will open "Anti-Art" at Eleanor Harwood Gallery in San Francisco this Saturday, August 3rd. The show will feature all of Dennis' graphics for Anti-Hero to date, all 26 graphics. And second, the NYC-based artist will be creating an installation with Juxtapoz for the 2013 Outside Lands festival that kicks off next weekend in SF, August 9-11, 2013.

Stussy & Heel Bruise Present "Under The Radar" @ Atlas Skate

On Saturday, January 26 at Atlas Skate Shop in San Mateo, Stussy and Heel Bruise will present the photography exhibit, Under The Radar. The photo exhibit features photography from our very own Joe Brook, and Patrick Beaudouin, Tony Manfre, Isaac McKay-Randozzi, Remio, Travis Jensen, Keith Hufnagel and Robbie Jeffers. The Under the Radar exhibit was created in 2011 as a way to showcase photographic talents from the worlds of skateboarding and street culture.

Opening: Neck Face "Simply The Worst" @ New Image Art, LA

This past Friday the 13th, bad luck was celebrated at Neck Face’s Simply The Worst opening at New Image Gallery in Los Angeles, Calif. Art collectors, graffiti enthusiasts, and the elite of skateboarding showed up to support Neckface. The respect is mutual, as Neck Face says, "Those are my people, they know who I am and I know who they are. We all come from the gutter."

Live: Good Wood 2012 Skateboard Art Exhibition

Our good friends at Power House Productions in Detroit, whom we worked with during our 15th Anniversary fundraiser in 2009-10, is putting on a skateboard art exhibition fundraiser, Good Wood, for the Ride It Sculpture Park that is going in the neighborhood close to where Juxtapoz bought houses in 2009. The online bidding auction began on May 19, and the art show that coincides with the auction begins on May 26 in Detroit.

Skating with Shadows: "Peter Brings the Shadow to Life"

A beautifully shot skate video, with the title taken from a line in an essay about Peter Pan, Joe Pease has created an alternate reality by focusing on the shadow as opposed to the person skating. After awhile, it becomes like a symphony of shapes and movement. The Nick Cave helps.

PEZ: Magic Box in Harjuku, Tokyo

The universal language of this video, produced by Mountain Dew in Japan and involving a Magic Box event going on in Harajuku, Tokyo this weekend, is skateboarding and the artwork of former Juxtapoz featured artist, PEZ. The SF-based graffiti artist has his famed pyramids and color style animated for each skater to navigate around.
