One of our favorite booths from the entire weekend of fairs in NYC was the Pace Prints booth at The Armory Show's Modern Fair. Pace featured works from Keith Haring, Wangechi Mutu, Shepard Fairey, Erik Parker, Ryan McGinness, Yoshitomo Nara, Hockney, and Chuck Close.

In conjunction with Bonhams Auction House holding their first United States Urban Art Auction on October 29, 2012, in Los Angeles, we sit down with Gareth Williams, who oversees Bonhams contemporary, urban, and modern design sales at the London-based auctioneers. As we have been noting on the site over the past few weeks, Shepard Fairey (featured in our November 2012 issue), just opened a new solo exhibition, Sound & Vision, at Stolenspace Gallery in London. Our contributor, Butterfly, was on the scene at the opening, as well as watching Shepard's street works in progress over the past week... 

In conjunction with Shepard Fairey opening a new exhibition, Sound & Vision, at Stolenspace in London tonight (and officially, Saturday, October 20), we wanted to publish our recent feature on Shepard from our current November 2012 Politics & Art issue. In conversation with Ron English at the end of August, the interview is a candid talk from two artists who have helped shape a dialgoue of modern politics and art, and have helped foster contemporary street art.

With the upcoming election less than a month away, November 2012 feature artist Shepard Fairey (not to mention an artist set to open a new show in London this Friday, October 19) teamed up with InkCards and created a postcard you can mail for free to friends and family to just simply remind them to vote.

This past weekend we stopped by Known Gallery for “Hello Kitty, Hello Art” a one-day pop-up event. The gallery was filled with a new collection of Sanrio-inspired art featuring over 30 new paintings by graffiti artist POSE, custom chandeliers by Adam Wallacavage, a neon installation by RISK and new works by 64 Colors, AIKO, Caia Koopman, DABS MYLA, Kenton Parker, Niagara, Shepard Fairey and Simone Legno — all incorporating a rainbow of Sanrio characters.

It has been a few years since Shepard Fairey has shown a new body of work (Deitch Projects was the last official solo show), and since Fairey has been interviewed for our November 2012 Politics & Art issue, we are looking forward to his new show, Sound & Vision, opening at Stolenspace Gallery in London on October 19.
