Jacob Lewis Gallery is pleased to present On Our Hands, an exhibition of new paintings by Shepard Fairey. The exhibition will be on view September 18—October 24, with a public opening reception September 17, 4-8pm. We are excited to see Shepard back in NYC, and his show at Pace Prints a few years back was a great one, as well as his awesome warehouse insanity with Jonathan LeVine Gallery back in 2007. The Obey Giant does well in NYC.

On Friday, June 26, the CAC Málaga Museum in Málaga, Spain will be opening Your Eyes Here, an exhibition from Los Angeles-based artist Shepard Fairey. As they note, "Your Eyes Here is not just a historical overview of Fairey’s works, but is a dynamic up-to-the-moment showcase of his artistic evolution influenced by music, politics – peace and war – and environmental issues." On the occasion, we chatted with Shepard about putting the show together, the international spread of Obey Giant, and looking forward and back.

We always keep our eye out on the auction scene, and ArtNet just launched a new Urban Art auction (now through March 10, 2015) on their site that has some solid pieces of note. A few Kaws gems, Shepard Fairey, Faile, Swoon, Banksy, Dalek, Futura, D*Face, and Paul Insect all are available, amongst others, and with Banksy's big Gaza release this past week, we think there is going to be some strong interest in a few of his works here.

"If you don't know Shepard Fairey, you know Shepard Fairey. You have encountered an Obey Giant sticker before, I guarantee There's a chance that you, your son, or daughter is wearing an Obey shirt right now. Unless you were living under a rock in 2008, you saw an Obama "HOPE" poster, and it probably gave you pause, whether you voted for the man or now.

But the editors here are constantly checking what is happening on the auction scene, and we really like some of the Lots that are up for bidding on the Artnet Urban Art Auction that is live through December 18, 2014.

Juxtapoz has always stood by noble causes, and we especially support great causes for which art is being utilized to encourage change. Over the years we have published special political-themed issues and are proud to have created numerous art auctions for charities, the most recent being for a clean water initiative in the Philippines. Today, we are excited to see the announcement by WAT-AAH!, the first functional bottled water for kids and teens, for the continuation of its groundbreaking art initiative, WAT-AAH!’s Taking Back the Streets (TBTS). The initiative, which encourages kids to drink more water through street art, will return to New York City October 14th-15th at ArtBeam Gallery in Chelsea.
