Our favorite pieces from the Shanghai, China-based Mojo Wang are the ones that do not feature faces. His newest work, People Mountain, People Se, feature grayscaled characters, no faces, saluting and communicating in unison. Maybe the theme of anonymity will carry us through 2013?

We don't normally marvel at swimming pools on this site, but when we saw this one today, we couldn't help but think this was the swimming pool of Bruce Wayne type parameters. At the Holiday Inn Shanghai Pudong Kangqiao (yes you read it right, the Holiday Inn) there resides a glass bottomed pool, 24-stories high. Yes, you can see what imminent death looks like while in swim trunks.

We were searching for an artist with a burst of color this morning, and remembered how much we loved the work of Shanghai-based Shan Jiang when we have seen it in commercial endeavors over the years. The graphic designer, illustrator, and art director now works in London with design company Shotopop.

We came across some beautiful works by fine artist Lu Cong this morning, and although the majority of the work focues on the faces of the subject, this one piece of the floating women caught our attention the most. Cong was born in Shanghai in 1978, and he moved to the US when he was 11, and interestingly, graduated from the University of Iowa with degrees in Biology and Art in 2000.

French photographer Alain Delorme created this series, Totems, while living in Shanghai, China in 2009. As noted on his website, while one is usually fascinated by the delusion of grandeur of Chinese society, Delorme chose to focus on the individuals running around the city. The work is currently on display in Bilbao at Sala Rekalde.

A good way to send us into the weekend, a few photos of TED Award winner JR putting up pieces around Los Angeles, which he will be doing for the next few weeks for his "The Wrinkles of the City" project. Looks like JR put up some pieces in Venice and downtown already. Images after the jump . . .
