An Egyptian Sawe

Juxtapoz // Thursday, September 20, 2012
What’s not to like about this Egyptian- themed Sawe piece? This makes graffiti look like a whole lot of fun. It probably inspired a couple of young kids to go out and give the spray can a whirl for the first time.

Video: "MUTE" BY SAWE

Graffiti // Thursday, September 13, 2012
A few months back, the Catalan graffiti writer, Sawe, released a collaborative video with Herokid that caught us off guard. It was a step up from 99% of the graffiti videos we had seen. The artist used his playful illustrations to animate over a nicely shot and edited video. In this newest project, once again, Sawe illustrated a hilariously looking character to market magnets that silence your spray cans.

Video: Concrete Wall Project Presents Sawe

Herokid’s refreshingly creative new video in their ongoing series Concrete Walls Project highlights the Catalan graffiti writer, Sawe.  The artist’s playful illustrations are animated over the video, including a desaturated/yellow overall look and fitting soundtrack.  Graffiti videos tend to be plagued with cliché hip hop soundtracks and poor editing, leaving us to ponder why more are not being made at the following quality level.  The bar has been raised.

Sawe x Praying Mantis

Graffiti // Wednesday, March 28, 2012
Sawe frequently incorporates comical and lighthearted elements into his work, and we really appreciate that.  Graffiti can have a straight face more often than not.  A praying mantis? Why not.
