Former Juxtapoz cover artist, Miss Van, has been busy in the early parts of 2013 with exhibitions and public pieces, and she just sent us a video of her painting on the streets of Sao Paulo, Brazil with Ciro. We also included a nice collection of shots that Miss Van has posted from numerous pieces she has done in Brazil this year. Look and watch. 

On view Casa Triangulo through May 18th in Sao Paulo, Brazil is the third solo show of Assume Vivid Astro Focus (AVAF) at the gallery entitled ALISABEL VIRIL APAGÃO FENOMENAL. AVAF is comprised of Eli Sudbrack who was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and lives and works between São Paulo and New York and Christophe Hamaide-Pierson who was born in Paris and still lives and works there.

A telephone company in São Paulo, Brazil comissioned 100 artists to piant 100 public telephones. We didn't realize people still used public telephones, but either way it's a great idea!

We have featured the very talented João Ruas (aka Feral Kid) before on the site. The São Paulo-based visual artist has continued to impress with his dark and mysterious work and has several new sketchbook and standalone pieces.

There is a lack of large animal themed playgrounds; actually there is a lack of creative playgrounds in general, the options are endless really. Why not a massive gator-themed space for kids and adults? In San Paulo, there is a playground shaped as an alligator and for the 2012 SESC Arts show they invited Brooklyn-based artist, Olek, to cover the trademark crochet creations.

Sao Paulo, Brazil-based fine artist, and cover of our 2009 Brazil issue, Herbert Baglione, will be opening a museum exhibition at the Bogota Museum of Contemporary Art in Colombia tomorrow, July 7. The exhibition, Obituary, will feature a series of paintings and installations, as well as Baglione recreating the drawings he did as a 3-year old of illustrating simple interventions over family photographs.

A gorgeous collection of some of João Ruas' more sensual, seductive works, Ruas paints a haunting world inhabited by enigmatic figures and regal beasts awash in a maelstrom of mysterious energies. His explorations of the darker realms of the spirit evoke states of emotional turmoil, spiritual hunger and troubled passion. Weaving together history, mythology and cryptic symbolism in a misty dreamscape...

Zansky is an illustrator and graphic designer in São Paulo, Brasil. He prefers the traditional graphic arts, using printing processes such as offset, silkscreen, letterpress, engraving, and digital printing to create his final works. He has illustrated for magazines such as FFW Mag, Epoca Negocios and Motomag in Brazil and has a varietal portfolio of brightly abstract and lively illustration work that is balancing on the edges of both folk and surreal.

Dea Lellis is an illustrator and drawer from Sao Paulo, Brazil. Her paintings and illustrations combine simple flat backgrounds with quirky symbolism that is mysterious and enticing. Her are a few of her works.

We love a good surprise in our morning Inbox, and this urban text project from Madrid's BOA MISTURA done in Sao Paulo was a nice treat. The collective took the winding streets Vila Brâsilandia and transformed them into colorful transformations of place and space, adding a bit of an optical illusion in text along the way.
