Bay area artist, Lindsey Kustusch, is having her second solo show this month at STUDIO Gallery in San Francisco. Over 35 pieces of new work, including dozens of SF street scenes interlaced with nature's most domineering survivors, the Raven and Owl.

This morning we take a look at the paintings of San Francisco-based artist David Marc Grant. David is interested in the process and problem of solving formal painting issues as well as geo-political issues. For this reason, he asks the viewer to fall in love with the consumption of brightly colored consumer objects (his paintings), "while simultaneously suggesting the dangerous consequences implicit in the act."

The Shooting Gallery is pleased to present, Madness, by Seattle-based Japanese artist, Yumiko Kayukawa. This new collection of works will be her eighth solo show at the Shooting Gallery and will feature her acrylic and ink paintings on canvas. The opening reception of Madness will be held at the Shooting Gallery on June 8, 2013 from 7-11pm. The exhibition will be on view through June 29, 2013 and is free and open to the public.

San Francisco based illustrator and designer, Patrick Sean Gibson recently announced and released a commercial for his #BrainSnap 2.0 app featuring 16 custom frame features and over 230 new illustrations!  The app was made to capture your friends as they really are, be it lurkers, b-boys, couch lockers or half-steppers, all you have to do is open the app, select or take a picture, pick an illustration, and let #BrainSnap do its thing! It's the final countdown to SFMOMA's building closure! Of course, they'll be closing their doors in style. San Francisco-based artist Akira Beard is back with some wonderful new work! Akira currently teaches Fine Art Anatomy at the Academy of Art and exhibits his work at a variety of bay area and national galleries.

Robert Xavier Burden recently opened a solo show, Toy Box, at the Shooting Gallery in San Francisco featuring 16 oil paintings both on canvas and on panel of "childhood icons in compositions of reverence and majesty. One of our favorite institutions and longtime supporters of the local San Francisco art scene, Needles and Pens, have now officially been doing their thing for 10 years aka a decade!
