San Diego, California based Kelsey Brookes just opened his debut UK solo exhibition, Desires of the Soul, at the Lazarides space, The Outsiders, in London. The avid surfer with a history in microbiology introduces a body of work including paintings, sculpture, and installation work. Our London correspondent, Butterfly, was at the opening.

Recently opened at Double Break is Horror Days, a series of drawings and prints by James Quigley, aka Gunsho. The show runs until November 6th, perfect for the month of Halloween. These cardboard pieces in particular are our favorites from the exhibition.

New Mural in La Jolla, San Diego by John Baldessari

We just recently mentioned John Baldessari's show over at Sprueth Magers in Berlin. In addition to this recent show, Baldessari put up a new mural in La Jolla, California. The conceptual artist  is known for his collage work with found photographs and odd appropriations that investigate and question how we perceive the world around us in a variety of ways.

Currently on exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego is Phenomenal: California Light, Space, Surface. The show exhibits a collection of work from Los Angeles based artists in the 1960s and 1970s during a time period when many artists were focused on light and creating various retinal phenomena with sculptures, paintings and installations.
