Five Hours of Airplane Landings in 25 Seconds at San Diego Intl Airport

Airports are busy, but rarely do we get an idea of just how many flights come in and out of a given airport over a short period of time. Cy Kuckenbaker captured 5 hours of air landings at San Diego airport, and condensed it into just a short 25 seconds. The flights took place between 10:30am and 3pm.

We would not be the first to note that Kelsey Brookes' artistic career did not follow the most traditional path. While attending university, he studied biology instead of painting and drawing, and not until practicing as a microbiologist for a few years and moving to San Diego did Brookes begin his career as a painter.

Opening Saturday evening , November 10, at Space 4 Art is a three-person show titled Jamais Vu, featuring one of our favorite San Diego-based painters Ernest Silva as well as Los Angeles based artists Michelle Carla Handel and Michael Arata. If you are not already familiar, Space 4 Art is an emerging art venue in San Diego that functions as a collective of studios as well as an exhibition space.

This past weekend, Balboa Park's Activity Center hosted Art San Diego, San Diego's annual art fair. San Diego is not a bad place to be in the beginning of September, not only did the region offer pleasant weather (which at times got a bit hot inside the Activity Center), but also some great showings by some of the area's finest art exhibitors like Quint Contemporary Art and Double Break, among a few others.

Joe Yorty is a San Diego-based artist that works in a variety of sculptural and two-dimensional mediums. As an obsessive collector of things and a habitual thrift store scavenger, Yorty utilizes objects that are carefully crafted by the unskilled, worn by use and time, and discarded for a second round of consumption.
