Everytime I come across this image I feel like I'm seeing a gorgeously rendered graphite illustration, and I'm always surprised. Sally Mann is an American photographer, best known for her large black-and-white photographs—at first of her young children, then later of landscapes suggesting decay and death with an inbetween stage focusing on the flesh and body.
