Sage Vaughn was the cover of our February 2015 issue, our inaugural Beyond the Cover subject, and probably one of our favorite artists working today. As we wrote in February, Sage has changed some things up with his art. He has begun to work in the "Garden," and as we wrote at the time, "these new works are meditations on gardens and our ability to manipulate and control beauty. But other possibilities arise. These works find meaning in the patterns of personal life, the unseen mappings of our universe, and how we find ourselves connecting dots and moving forward without losing a sense of self. There is truth in this process."

The LA Art Book Fair, presented by the good people of Printed Matter, is one of our favorite art events of the year and a chance for us to check the best in independent publishing, whether it be vintage books, new books, zines, collectibles, and other periodicals. Juxtapoz again will have a booth this year, and along with new mags, old mags, and books, we will release two new zines under the Juxtapoz Editions imprint: Sage Vaughn "Vanitas" and Kristin Farr "Magic Hecksagons."

To officially kick off the year, we are proud to announce the February 2015 issue with cover artist, Sage Vaughn. The Los Angeles-based Vaughn has long been a friend of the magazine, and with his upcoming exhibition at Judith Charles in NYC coming up this Spring, it was time to sit down and talk to the artist about new transformations in his work. That's right, we are taking a walk into the Garden.

We are very excited to announce our participation and curation at the 2014 Outside Lands Music & Art Festival in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, August 8—10, 2014. This year, we have brought back the great Mike Shine and the Dr. Flotsam's Hell Brew Revue stage, full of performance art, a great iist of bands, and full carnival set-up in the woods. So in-between sets by Kanye West, Arctic Monkeys, Spoon, Tegan & Sara, and hundreds more, we will have live-painting, art adorning the stages, and installations throughout the park to experience.

All 2014 long, Juxtapoz will be looking back at our roots, celebrating our 20th year with a mixture of history and the contemporary. For the March 2014 issue, we look at how Juxtapoz was born out of 1960's Psychedelic experimentation, from the art and groundbreaking imagery created by some of San Francisco's finest poster artists...

As we have noted on the site (and in the print edition) in recent months, Sage Vaughn just opened his new solo show, "Nobody's Home," at Lazarides Rathbone this past weekend in London. Our London contributor, Butterfly, made it to the opening, and now you can see Vaughn's new paintings in the gallery context...

Our good friend and Los Angeles-based fine artist Sage Vaughn will be having a book signing and release of his new monograph at Skylight Books in Los Angeles on Tuesday, May 28. After you have your day of Americana and BBQing, we suggest you go to something art-related on your day back to work.
