With POSE opening a solo show, White Wash, (with KC Ortiz) at Known Gallery this Saturday, November 19, we asked contributing writer Roger Gastman to have a conversation with the Chicago-based artist. And he did.

During MOCA's Art In the Streets exhibition, one of the best portions was Roger Gastman's extensive collection of spray cans from various time periods that was incorporated to the show's timeline. Mr. Gastman has now created a three-print series created as companion pieces to his limited-edition book, The Tools of Criminal Mischief.

Tonight, Thursday, July 21, TAKI 183 will be the featured artist at The History of American Graffiti book signing at the post-Deitch Projects space, The Hole NYC. Today is the 40th anniversary of the infamous NY Times headline: TAKI183 Spawns Penpals, which ignited the graffiti movement in New York.

Juxtapoz were esteemed guests at the premiere of Alex Stapleton's documentary, the Levis' presents, "Outside In: The Story of Art In the Streets" at Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood this past Tuesday evening. The film captured the making of the MOCA's "Art In the Streets "exhibition that opened last month in LA.

We just got opening night photos of the Roger Gastman curated Blurring the Lines: Crash, Freedom, and Risk at Corey Helford Galley in Culver City. The artists, and and curator, were in attendance.

The buzz surrounding MOCA's Art In the Streets exhibit can't be any louder, as the response we have received over our April 2011 "Art In the Streets" issue done in conjunction with the show's curators has been off the charts. Maybe it was the Margaret Kilgallen cover? Whatever it is, its getting louder and louder, and just remember if you can't go, there is going to be the show's catalogue book. More after the jump . . .

Longtime Juxtapoz contributors, Roger Gastman and Caleb Neelon, are set to release their massive (seriously, you can break someone's hand with that thing) vast, and important book, The History of American Graffiti, and PBS NewsHour just did a nice segment on the book with the two authors. Our April issue of Juxtapoz, the Art In the Streets Issue, companion to the MOCA's "Art In the Streets" exhibition that is opening in Los Angeles next month, was curated by Roger Gastman. April 2011 marks a special issue for Juxtapoz Magazine, as we were asked by the MOCA to create a companion issue to the first major instituitional retrospective of street art, Art In the Streets. As we documented street art to a wider-audience of fine art, tattoo, pop-surreal, and illustrative art enthusiasts over our 17 years, we wanted to create an extended dialog and history with graffiti and street art pioneers.
