From our good friend Alex Pardee and the Zerofriends crew: Time Flys. While it's hard to believe that it's already time to announce a new show at our Oakland Gallery, it's one we're certainly excited about. This Saturday, December 8, longtime friend and painter Robert Bowen will be featuring a series of new paintings that differ slightly from his past work.

1AM is pleased to present "Reckoning", a group exhibition reflecting society's obsession with catastrophe, both imagined and real. The collection includes original art by Leon Loucheur, Optimist, Robert Bowen, Pemex, Monty Guy and Chamber Made.

I interviewed surrealist painter Robert Bowen for Juxtapoz Issue #139. Since that was only a couple of months ago, I was going to ask him the same exact questions that I did before just because it would be silly, but instead, I'm going to let his incredible paintings speak for themselves, because they speak pretty loudly and each one has its own beautiful voice.

Stacey Ransom & Jason Mitchell’s highly anticipated debut solo show of photo illustration tableaus and portraiture opens at at Varnish Fine Art in San Francisco, Saturday, Sept. 8th. Mitchell, a director-photographer, and Ransom, a set designer and photo-illustrator, create highly-detailed and visually-lush photo illustrations. The duo, who shot Robert Bowen's portrait in our August 2012 issue, sent us an exclusive portrait preview of their work with Greg "Craola" Simkins.

Bay Area-based Robert Bowen, who we interviewed in our August 2012 issue (with a fantastic portrait by Ransom + Mitchell), is part of the group exhibition, Lethal Injection, opening tomorrow night, August 3, at San Francisco's 111 Minna Gallery. The show will also feature works by Isaac Pierro, Philip Lawson, Nicholas Giraud, a.k.a. 100taur, and even a few portraits by Ransom + Mitchell.

We were introduced to the work of Robert Bowen by Alex Pardee, and we have been fans ever since. If you are in SF and get tired of the Outside Lands activity, head over to Lopo Gallery tonight, August 13, to see Candy Coated, a new series of works by Bowen. There will be hi-fives exchanged.

We just met Robert Bowen recently at the Zerofriends Collective pop-up shop in San Francisco, and really found the work to be quite striking and well executed.
