Richard Colman, the cover artist of Juxtapoz September 2015, has been working hard on an amazing body of work and installation for his new solo show, Faces, Figures, Places, & Things, opening at Chandran Gallery in San Francisco on September 25, 2015, with a reception at 7pm. Our cover story on Richard captured a great mood on the process of art making, the craft of creation, and from the large-scale painitngs to an immense floor installation, we are getting excited to see the final results.

We are proud to kick off the Fall season with a cover story on San Francisco-based fine artist Richard Colman. Richard's work has evolved and expanded so much since we last spoke to him in 2010, and his newest body of work continues to be an exploration on the way we as humans communicate and interact. We spent a few weeks with Richard in his studio in SF as well as around the city he calls home to catch a glimpse at the intricate details of the working artist's life.

We are excited about this one, as the show has a lot of our friends and artists we admire at the moment. Joshua Liner Gallery presents All Types of Characters, a group exhibition curated by arts and culture digest The World’s Best Ever. Showcasing over thirty contemporary artists based in Canada, Denmark, and The United States, the exhibition highlights the presence of characters in each artists’ work and their function as a means to explore identity and ideas of beauty as a social commentary. All Types of Characters will open with a reception on Thursday, June 18, 2015.

In late 2014, there was a Duck show curated by the great Chircago artist Ryan Travis Christian. Now, that Duck show has evolved into DUCKS! and is opening tonight (March 27) at our friend Louis Schmidt's new LA space, Minotaur Projects. There will be ducks painted by Jason Jagel, Richard Colman, Nat Russell, Mel Kadel, Paul Wackers, Ryan Travis Christian, Brian Willmont, Allison Schulnik, and so many more we can't even name them.

We have been working with a few Andy Warhol projects over the past month, and we were happy to see this go up on Paddle8's auction site today: The Andy Warhol Foundation is proud to present this auction which includes original artwork inspired by Warhol’s work created by ten renowned artists (all artists who have been in Juxtapoz over the past year or two as well). Proceeds will benefit NURTUREart, a non-profit institute dedicated to nurturing new contemporary art by providing exhibition opportunities and resources for emerging artists, curators and public school students.

From May 16th – 18th during Art Basel Hong Kong 2014 at The Space in Sheung Wan, Converse presented a rare opportunity to witness creativity being unleashed with 'Open Studio,' an exciting new platform for next generation talent with pop-up studios showcasing the creative process in-motion. The project lent an environment where guests can observe the artists at work or interact with the artists for a more intimate experience.

And finally, the art. We are so proud of all the artwork that is on exhibit in "Art Truancy: Celebrating 20 Years of Juxtapoz Magazine," open at Jonathan LeVine Gallery in NYC through June 14, 2014. It blows our mind that we are now two decades old, but what is even more amazing are all the artists that have been in our pages over those years. Their works tell the story, create the chance to document alternative art narratives, bring out the fans, bring out the collectors, and keep the creative energy of Juxtapoz alive. Here, then, is all the art in "Art Truancy."
