Mac just sent us some flicks of his brand new collaboration with Retna (Juxtapoz #78). The artist tells us, “This is a mural Retna and I just painted in Los Angeles called Memento Mori. This is a Latin phrase meaning ‘be mindful of death’ and can be translated as ‘remember that you are mortal’ or ‘remember that you must die. That could seem a little grim, but the point is really to encourage us to properly value and make the most of our time here.” Word.

The ever-busy RETNA (Juxtapoz #78) got a new mural up on Brooks and Pacific in Venice Beach in sunny Southern California. Not surprisingly, a small crowd gathered to watch the master at work.

REVOK may seem intimidating, but one look at this hilarious photo and it’s clear that (1) REVOK is awesome (2) he’s a sweetheart and (3) you need to learn more about him. Naturally we anticipated your desire to get to know one of the most elusive, famed, and respected graffiti artists the world has to offer, so we got him to share his dirty lil secrets by answering our Back Talk Questions. Okay, not all his secrets are dirty, but he does spill details about how he dodged getting caught by LA’s finest while working on a piece one crazy night. See what we’re talking about by reading Back Talk with REVOK below.

Lawyers, guns, and money. Sounds like some shit is going down. Luckily, it’s an upcoming AWR and MSK group art show at Canvas, featuring original works from Augor, Aloy, Bert Krak, Dame, Ewok, Jersey Joe (Rime), Krush, Norm, Pose, Risk, Retna, Revok (shown working on the collaborative print, left, that will be released at the opening) Saber, Tyke (The Witness) Zeser, and more. It all goes down next Saturday, February 28th, 2009. See these graff masters in a setting other than the street. They may be the sickets artists in the concrete jungle, but they can also kill it in a studio setting. See what they have to offer and hit up Canvas LA next weekend. And remember to send some lawyers, guns, and money while you’re at it. Someone always needs a lawyer and money is also nice.
