Two-time Juxtapoz cover artist and longtime favorite of the staff, Todd "REAS" James is opening a new solo show, Pump Pump, at the stellar Alice Gallery in Brussels, Belgium this week. From his amazing satirical military works, the the pirates, to his new series of big busted women and cartoonish still lifes, he continues to make some of the most strong work that we get to cover.

Todd "REAS" James is a 2x Juxtapoz cover artist, with the NYC artist most recently on the cover in December 2013. From his Pirate series, to MASH-style pin-ups, and his career in graffiti and tv shows like Crank Yankers, James is one of the true representatives of what this magazine stands for. So it's pretty cool to us that we get to be the exclusive premiere of James's music video work for U2's new track, "The Troubles." Big band, big artist.

Painted back in 2009 but it really doesn’t matter because Reas’s graffiti transcends generations and stays relevant.

Galleria Patricia Armocida is proud to present Secret Garden, the first solo exhibition in Italy by Todd James that opened on Tuesday May 13, 2014 and will run through August 1st. For this occasion, the artist created seven large-scale acrylic on canvas paintings and eight medium and small-scale gouache on paper paintings. For his first Italian solo exhibition, James toes the thin line between erotic and ironic, capturing his Junoesque and voluptuous women during their private, secret moments taking place behind closed doors.

And so now we come to the end of the line, the last moments of 2013. It was hard picking the best features of our print edition this year, but we tried our best to narrow it down to some unique stories, from Asger Carlsen, Geoff McFetridge, Bruce Davidson, and Julie Nord, just to name a few of the standout art we covered. Today, we end with Todd James' exceptional cover story from the December 2013 issue, done by contributing editor Joey Garfield from the artist's studio in NYC... enjoy!

Something we are really excited about, and perfect timing with our Todd "REAS" James cover story in our December 2013 issue on newsstands now. If you follow James on Instagram, you have been seeing his really bugged out, cartoonish, psychedelic "Swords & Sorcery" drawings he has been doing, and now he will be having a ONE DAY zine/installation launch at The Newsstand in Brooklyn, at the Lorimer L/Metropolitan G subway stop from 3pm - 9pm, Saturday November 23rd. Be there. Go there.

Just in time for our December 2013 cover story to come out, Todd James has a new exhibition, Splash Damage, opening at Cooper Cole Gallery in Toronto this Friday, November 8. Expanded on both his pirate series, James has been working on some new styles of his playful girl paintings for his show north of the border.

We end the year on a high, high note, with a great December 2013 cover story on artist Todd "REAS" James. We have been scheduling a story with Todd for a bit now, and after the VMAs with the Miley bears, and another year where his exhibitions seems to get more and more stunning, we thought it was time to send contributing editor Joey Garfield out to NYC to catch up with REAS about pirates, girls, Mileys, vandals, and the evolution of his craft.
