Crash paints Bowery & Houston Wall

  The Bowery Wall in New York has been seeing a lot of paint in the last week. The short-lived 70th birthday wall for Martha Cooper has been followed up by the work of Crash a.k.a. John Matos, who completed the wall in just two days. A very large Popeye can now be seen greeting commuters on Houston and Bowery.

Design for Changsha Meixihu International Culture & Art Centre

The ambitious designs created by the architectural firm, Zaha Hadid, for the Changsha Meixihu International Culture & Art Centre in China have been revealed and they are quite impressive. The three buildings, a Grand Theatre, a Contemporary Art Museum, and a Multipurpose Hall, will each offer various creative activities and different experiences. The facilities are intended to offer both indoor and outdoor exhibitions, with additional amenities such as bars and restaurants for visitors.

New mural from Blu in Bologna, Italy

We are patiently waiting for a new epic stop animation from Blu like the ones that blew everyone’s mind a few years back. Not to say that his murals aren’t certified homeruns. This new wall was painted on the XM24 building in Bologna, Italy, a space that supports and promotes social change, vegetarianism, and anti-fascism. You can see content relating to Star Wars and Lord of the Rings on this one.

"Miracle Tree" monument in Japan

A lone palm tree that survived the 2001 tsunami in Japan has been rebuilt as a monument to honor the 19,000 victims of the disaster. The only survivor of the 70,000 trees that were taken out from the water held on for a while, but eventually died due to environmental changes in the ground. The tree was cut up, the trunk hallowed out reinforced with a carbon spine, and partly re-created as a permanent monument.

Olek's crocheted Billboard in Oakland

  It’s Possible that Olek might be the first to crochet an entire billboard after this one with the word “Boys” was put up in Oakland, California. The artist dedicated the Billboard to the Billboard Liberation Front who is known for their high profile advertising takeovers and if you’re in the Oakland it’s located at Peralta St. and 36th.
