We love public art in any form, especially when it completely changes the landscape (for the better). We love bookstores and libraries, too, and to see this fantastic project, an outdoor public library called The Bookyard, just combines all the things we like. Massimo Bartolini, we say wonderful work. The public installation, made for the Belgian Art Festival, sits next to rows of grapevines.

The German Duo know as, Herakut, opened their show After The Laughter at Shea & Ziegler last night in Mayfair, London.  The show consisted of a new collection of original paintings, drawings and sculptures, alongside a book signing.  Show runs through June 10, 2012.

C215 in Sete, France

Making his way to the small town of Sete, in southern France, C215 recently finished up a new mural much larger in size than we are accustomed to seeing.  The artist stenciled a portrait of a man with vast amount of detail and there is also one of our favorite little cats hanging out below as well.  The mural was painted to coincide with the K-live Festival.

"Call Parade" in San Paulo

San Paulo, Brazil has developed a fantastic public arts project involving 100 artists to participate in decorating and painting 100 public telephone booths around the city.  The project entitled Call Parade has already hit the streets and the “Super brain” design by artist Carla Pires de Carvalho Fernandes is our favorite.

Fiesa Sand Sculpture Festival

Every year the Fiesa International Sand Sculpture Festival takes place in Pêra, Algarve,Portugal bringing together the most talented sculptures from around the world to build a city-like installation.  Using thirty-five thousand tons of sand to build with, the theme is ever changing ranging from Hollywood, discoveries, living world, and animal kingdom.  This year’s event opened last Friday on May 25, 2012 and will run until October 25.

Flesh-eating zombie garden gnomes

With recent headlines of a face-eating person in Florida, whose response to a police officers demand to stop was to look back with flesh in his mouth and grumble, face-eating gnomes seem all to timely.  Los Angeles-based couple, Chris Stever and Jane DeRosa, has created a series of gruesome zombie gnomes in grotesque scenarios.
