Video: L' Amour Supreme X Skinner for Mishka

Mishka will soon have a flagship store in Los Angeles and invited Sacramento-based artist, Skinner, and New York-based artist, L' Amour Supreme (featured in our October 2012 issue), to collaborate on a mural. The fictional movie stars E.T. and King Kong made a special guest appearance in their work.

AEC of Interesni Kazki @ Fame Festival 2012

Another piece from the Interesni Kazki team that transports you to another time and space. AEC from the Ukrainian duo was in Grottaglie, Italy to paint this wall/building for Fame Festival 2012, but from the sound of it, this was a stressful piece. Punctured tires of the lift, stuck in the mud, and then, it didn't work. Lifts are stressful. Watch the video after the jump . . .

"Libertad De Prensa" mural by Escif

Escif’s newest mural in his hometown of Valencia, Spain depicts a human being crushed by a large vice. Entitled “Libertad De Prensa” which translates in English to “Freedom of the Press”, is a comment on a local radio broadcast that was removed from Spanish radio.

Pedestrians footprints create leaves on tree to bring environmental awareness

With China having the highest number of cars on the road in the world, estimated at 500 million vehicles, a simple and effective public art project has the capability of bringing awareness to the situation. DDB China Group was asked to create an outdoor advertisement to urge people to make a change for their environment, such as walk more and drive less.

Oil Can Dragon (2011) by Qiu Zhijie

This works on many levels. Chinese artist, Qiu Zhijie, created the Oil Can Dragon, a public sculpture that featured, you guessed it, oil cans reorganized and re-imagined into a dragon. In 2011, the oil can dragon was was placed at the doors of the CAFA Biennale art exhibition in Beijing, and as we just read, in traditional Chinese culture, use of oil drums suggests a tension between the natural and modern worlds.

I was riding bikes in New York with a friend and he pointed over to this mural of racecars and said, “That is my favorite muralist in the city.”  To be honest, I had seen the murals in passing before but never really gave them much attention. I started noticing them more and more, really taking a liking to them. They have a naïve, childish, and playful feel.

Jade & El Decertor Collaboration in Peru
