David Byrne Makes Bike Racks

Any daily New York cyclist will tell you there are a serious lack of bike racks in all the boroughs. Everyone’s lugging these massive chains around so they can lock their bikes to something not intended for locking, trees work well. Any new bike racks mean a win for cyclists, whether Talking Heads lead singer, David Byrne, designed them or not, in this case he did.

Roa Paints Building in Arizona Desert

Appearing to be everywhere at once, Roa’s work is now popping up in the desert of Arizona in conjunction with the Painted Desert Project. Organized by artists, Yote and Jetsonorama, the project aims to educate other of the various creative aspects of Navajo Culture. Other artists that have participated and contributed work are Overunder, Doodles, Labrona, and more.

Aakash Nihalani Goes Tape on Long Island

One of the artists that we are excited to meet at Nuart this year is Aakash Nihalani, who has taken a very interesting, geometric, often illusionary approach to public and street work. Recently, he was on Long Island for the Lisa de Kooning Artist in Residence program, and the result of his work is quite impressive.

New Hyuro Mural in Atlanta Causes Controversy

The talented artist was invited to participate in the event where she painted a series of women nude, then dressing, and then taking off the dress that morphs to a wolf and runs away.

Living in New York feels similar to the look of Phlegm’s newest mural, everyone’s watching, all the time.  The Sheffield-based artist created this new piece for the Street Art Communication Festival in Kosice, Slovakia. His signature characters that are always building something are seen here constructing a telescope contraption.

2 new Kofie murals in Sante Fe, New Mexico

Two new Kofie pieces were recently painted in Sante Fe, New Mexico for The Hour Has Arrived event. With the intent to promote, recognize and preserve the craft of the Indians, the press realease explains, “There has been a lack of focus and attention on new mediums employed by Native artists, some of whom are at the forefront of the Public Art Movement.”

Any new bike racks mean a win for cyclists, whether Talking Heads lead singer, David Bryne, designed them or not, in this case he did.The bike racks, which are located outside of the Broooklyn Academy of Music, read "pink crown” and “micro lip.”
