Curtis Kulig "House of Hearts" Pop-Up & Special Juxtapoz Cover

As we noted on the site yesterday, Curtis Kulig will be opening a pop-up shop in Los Angeles at Space 15 Twenty this weekend, February 1 and going through Feb 15. The "LOVE ME" Pop-Up and Polaroid Show is curated by Curtis Kulig and presented by Space 15 Twenty, Urban Outfitters and Vans. For the occasion, Juxtapoz has created a limited-editioned cover for the pop-up space featuring Kulig's "LOVE ME" staple. The cover was created specifically for the pop-up, and you can only get it at Space 15 Twenty.

We got a little sneak peek and some detail shots of Late Confessions, the name of identical twins How & Nosm debut solo exhibition in New York City in a temporary space presented by Jonathan LeVine Gallery located at 557 West 23rd Street in Chelsea. The talented artists are presenting an impressive collection of works and on-site installations that expands their universe into the physical space.

As a prelude to the art fair activity in Singapore next week, Juxtapoz was invited to Singapore with Chandran Gallery for a special private showing of the works of Seattle-based Mary Iverson. With paintings that captures the mystic and power of shipping containers, Iverson's work set in the backdrop of the world's busiest port has brought out the power of the new body of work.

As you may have already known, Haroshi has made an impression on the art world in recent years for his recycled skateboard sculptures. The Japanese artist is set to open a new solo show, Virtual Reality, at Jonathan LeVine Gallery in NYC on Saturday, January 12. The repetition of skating, the craft of perfecting the right trick, comes out in the methodical arrangement of the plywood decks into recognizable characters and shapes.

Richard Heller Gallery is proud to present, The Hand of the Slumber Man, the first solo exhibition at the gallery for Los Angeles based artist, Luke Whitlatch. The Hand of the Slumber Man is a suite of paintings and drawings that evoke the static experiences and moments in time that create myths and legends. These works are about what you thought you saw and how non-visual senses can be reinvented through abstraction. Color, surface and compositional elements act as placeholders for sensory information.

Mark Moore Gallery proudly presents Fall Out, an inaugural solo exhibition of paintings by San Francisco-based artist, Andrew Schoultz (March 2012 cover artist). In this exhibition, Schoultz translates the motifs in his kinetic two-dimensional works into a real scale three-dimensional installation – presenting an interrelated combination of painting, sculpture, drawing, and collage.

This Saturday, January 12, Dave MacDowell opens a big solo show, Project Mayhem, at Thinkspace in Culver City. (Actually, over 40+ galleries in Culver City are opening shows, so its a good night to get arted). Dave MacDowell’s work deftly combines satire, irreverence, and seething wit. A self-taught artist, MacDowell combines popular cultural references with the magnetism of the "dark hook", creating unexpected plays on popular culture that inject the familiar with blistering hyperboles.

Today, we announce our February 2013 issue, featuring our old friend James Jean, who is set to open a new body of work at Jack Tilton Gallery in NYC on January 9, 2013. February 2013 also features our very special (and limited edition cover, more on that tomorrow) project with famed artist Matthew Barney and skateboard legend Lance Mountain. We document Mountain's ride on a Barney-designed skate deck (part of the Drawing Restraint 19 series), at the Ride It Sculpture Park in Detroit as part of Juxtapoz ongoing collaboration with Power House Productions.
