Amy Casey, who is quickly becoming one of our favorites, will be opening a new body of work, Building Toward A Solid Ground, at San Francisco's Michael Rosenthal Gallery this Saturday, February 25. Talking about the tiny universes and rows of homes that exist in her acrylic works, Casey says, "I like to think about how communities work - from small towns to a world community - how we depend on each other to create civilization..."

The March 2012 issue of Juxtapoz, featuring Andrew Schoultz on the cover, is now on newsstands and on our webstore. In a weird way, this issue began on the shores of Norway and ended in a desert in Tucson, Arizona, and found itself in the SFMoMA and in a studio in Miami, Florida. And we followed filmmaker, author, and performance artist Miranda July as she released her newest book, It Chooses You. Full preview after the jump . . .

We noted on the site the other day that famed Japanese artist Takashi Murakami will open Murakami—Ego at the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar on February 9, featuring 60 works from 1997 to the present, with new works created for this specific exhibition. Inspired while painting in his studio during the Kentucky Derby, Southern California based fine artist, Josh "Shag" Agle, returns to Corey Helford Gallery with a new body of work titled Animal Kingdom. The show marks Shag's second with the gallery, with a conscious effort to use brighter, more radiant colors.

Juxtapoz friend and feature alumnist Dennis McNett, a NYC-based installation, performance, and fine artist, is set to open a new exhibitions at AR4T Gallery in Laguna Beach, California. The exhibition, Wolfbat Shamans and the Whale of Gratitude, features McNett's woodcut prints, sculptural forms, wall installations, papier mâché and masks in mythical and animalistic creations.

Prolific artist HUSH is opening a body of new work at 941 Geary in San Francisco tonight (Saturday, January 21), featuring the artist's layered, textured pieces of geisha-like women, fusing both Eastern characteristics with western graffiti and street art.

Alex Pardee and Dave Correia are in Salt lake City, Utah at the moment, prepping their collaborative exhibition at Blonde Grizzly Gallery. As Alex told us, "Coinciding with the festival of the dancing sun or whatever is going on in them there mountains in Utah, Dave Correia and myself will be taking over our favorite gallery in Salt Lake City." The show opens Friday, January 20.

We know of Skewville quite well, as we featured them on the site with an extensive interview last year. Tonight, January 14 in San Francisco, Skewville opens a new exhibition, Playground Tactics. This will be Skewville’s first solo project with White Walls, curated by Tova Lobatz, with approximately 30 pieces and an installation that will encompass and connect the Skewville style to the indoor space.
