Juxtapoz // Monday, August 06, 2012
Beginning on August 20, 2012, visitors to the Smithsonian's Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, DC can experience the transformative installation by influential and renowned artist (and November 2010 cover artist) Barbara Kruger. “Belief+Doubt” covers the lower-level lobby entry to the museum bookstore, about 6,700 square feet of surface—including walls, floor and escalator sides—covered in text-printed vinyl, surrounding viewers with lettering up to 12 feet high in a high-contrast color scheme that has become Kruger's custom of red, white and black.

Alex tells us, "Contrary to what might hunt you down in your nightmares after seeing some of his work, Zerofriends' own Dave Correia isn't a scary dude. Fortunately for our eyeballs, however, his new collection of paintings is still frighteningly beautiful." Preview after the jump . . .

Preview: Miss Van "Wild At Heart" @ Copro Gallery, Santa Monica

Juxtapoz // Tuesday, July 31, 2012
Former Juxtapoz cover artist, and continually one of our favorite fine artists working today, French-born, Barcelona-based artist Miss Van is set to open a new exhibition, Wild at Heart, at Copro Gallery in Santa Monica on Saturday, August 11, 2012. Internationally known for her poupées, the French word for dolls, Miss Van’s dreamlike narratives are filled with spontaneity and lightness. Yet they also reveal a darker side that has evolved from her experience as an acclaimed graffiti artist.

Early Works by Raymond Pettibon @ Georg Kargl BOX, Vienna

Juxtapoz // Friday, July 27, 2012
We are devout Raymond Pettibon fans. His combined use of mark making, text, and a signature comic-book style is the best of its kind. On view at Georg Kargl's BOX exhibition space in Vienna are some of Pettibon's earlier works from the 1980s. If we were in Vienna right now, we would be drooling over some of these drawings. For all you non Viennese readers, go on a vacation and check them out while they're still up.
